@@RK-qc6fo a CO2 based laser, (including the k40) absolutely cuts clear acrylic.

They are all broken ones found on eBay. I want to incorporate some in some future projects and am only willing to permanently alter them if they were broken first. 🤓
I don't have a raspberry Pi, but I do have one of the NES: Classic consoles they came out with several years ago 😂 It has far more data space than what it utilises, so you can attach it to a computer and inject any NES game you have the software of. I've wanted to somehow install it inside of the Lego NES.
Oh, I am quite familiar with the Classic. In fact I have a Portable NES video on this channel that uses it! 😁

I feel like such a moron, I bought a diode laser to cut clear acrylic….turns out they can’t. Now I’m looking to buy the k40 to cut clear acrylic.

Do you know if its possible to do this with an iPhone for an IRL stream? I am looking to have a 3d model placed in a specific gps location and then when I walk to where it is IRL I will see it
Definitely. Google has "Geospatial Creator" which is a powerful toolset to do what you are describing. There are some tutorials on it on RUclips. I'm looking forward to playing around with that myself.

It used a video game emulator, so yes, absolutely.

Have you ever been in a situation like this, where you want to make this project, but don't have a 3D printer or the proper tools to align the rails evenly, or even access to a hacksaw to cut the rods? Is there a difference between Raster engrave vs Line engrave? Thanks, I just got my K40
Raster engrave is like coloring in a picture with a crayon, moving side to side slowly working your way down the image. The vector engraving, i.e. scoring, is like tracing an outline with a black marker on and around your drawing. You can use it to draw the details. It's often way faster than doing the same operation in a raster engraving mode as it's not limited to just side to side. Hope that makes sense. Good luck!

I don't have mA guage just the power level led they come with. What do you think is the power setting for unit with LED power display setting?
I do not know for certain (as I don't have one like that) but I would just recommend trying a modest setting and working up from there in order to not wreck the tube. Maybe 60% power at the time settings recommended in description/ video?

Which cleanup are you referring to? Cutting a stamp on a CNC, there is no cleanup to speak of.

I recently acquired a K40 machine and downloaded the K40 Whisper program and the Inkscape program as well. Do I need the original program dongle to operate the machine?
If you use K40 Whisperer/inkscape, you don't need the dongle for anything.

why didn't you use V bit tool path? you could use an endmil to rough out large areas
Great question! I wish I had a solid answer for that for a project that was over five years ago. This was a very early project with the CNC and I'd hazard a guess that I didn't know or want to do a tool change. Good idea to revisit this project! 🤓👍. Thanks for watching!

Well, thanks for this. It has reassured me that I can DIY this thing up to snuff. I've been tinkering with 3D printers for a bit over a year now, upgrading them beyond recognition. I think I'm going to get the Vevor K40 laser cutter/engraver to tinker with and hopefully build a reliable machine out of it!
